GIVEAWAY: $50 Amazon Giftcard and a Whole Lot More

******This Giveaway is Now Closed*******

Welcome to Modern Reject 2.1. My beautiful blog just got a whole lot prettier with a new face-lift. You may be thinking pish-posh, she didn’t need it, but au contraire.

The new and improved version of Modern Reject is full of fanciness that will actually improve your experience. The navigation is easier to use, which means you’ll be able to find what you are looking for faster. The new sidebar, for example, now lets you find posts by subject like sex, marriage, church, lists, and other topics.

“What else,” you ask? Well, let me tell you. You can also subscribe much more easily to Modern Reject. Say you don’t want every post in your email or RSS (but I gotta ask, why wouldn’t you?) you can subscribe to a specific category, like Culture or It’s Love. Simple and cool.

Perhaps you are much like I used to be, however, and you are unsure what this whole “subscribe” business means. It allows you to never miss a Modern Reject post. You can choose to subscribe via email, which would bring posts right to your inbox. Spiffy, huh? Or you can use an RSS reader, like Google Reader (my preferred choice), which lets you read many different blogs in one place. Also very cool.

To subscribe via email, all you need to do is enter your email in the box up at the top of every page that reads: Get my emails. Easy peasy.

And, if you’re a mobile junkie like me and, say, you prefer to visit Modern Reject on your phone, well the times are a changin’. There is (finally!) a very nice mobile version of Modern Reject. You can even post and respond to comments from your phone.

Now, as you can read, I’m quite excited about the new Modern Reject look and, as a result, I thought I’d throw a little party–the first ever giveaway on Modern Reject! Woot!

So what’s behind door #4? Let me tell ya. I’m giving away some cool stuff…

One of six lucky winners will receive:

  • An 8×10 art print from Jones Design Company by Emily Jones. I linked to this piece a couple of weeks ago. I adore it. Emily is crazy creative and talented.
  • One 8×10 art print of your choice from Jessica Rose’s lovely shop Vol25. Jessica is a talented artist who paints inspiring works. Bet you’ll have a hard time choosing just one.
  • One 16×20 art print from Jim LePage. Jim is a graphic and web designer whose work is unparalleled. He has currently been designing a series called Word, where he created original designs for each book of the Bible. His work is outrageously cool, stylish, powerful, and unique.
  • One movie of your choice from my list of Top 10 Greatest Christian Movies of All-Time.
  • One copy of Ally Spotts’ new e-book, Asking All The Wrong Questions: Why Christians are Waiting for Marriage for Sex, which discusses how to practically achieve sexual purity. Great to read or give as a gift.
  • One $50 gift card to Amazon. Holla!

Whew, that’s a lot of cool stuff, huh? Even if you don’t win something for free, these folks are all worth checking out and buying from–seriously. I’m so excited to be able to give these prizes away to some of my readers. Now, for the details…

How do you actually win? Lots of ways:

Rules (the un-fun stuff):

  • Each time you do one of the above, you’ll receive an entry into the giveaway.
  • Please leave a comment for each entry into the contest. i.e. one comment for tweeting, one comment for sharing on Facebook, etc.
  • The contest will close at 5pm PST on Thursday, November 10th.
  • You can add entries each day until the contest is closed.
  • The winner will be selected via Random.org and announced on Friday the 11th here on Modern Reject.
  • You must be 18 to win. Prizes can only be shipped to a U.S. address.

This giveaway is my way of saying thank you for reading and thank you for being such an integral part of this community. Basically, thank you for being a REJECT. (P.S. I’d also like to say my own personal thank you to Why for the strategy, Andrew Ryno for the development, and Jon Ashcroft for the original Modern Reject logo and aesthetic, which I still love.)

Let the games begin! Share, tweet, follow, like, subscribe, add, and comment away to enter for your chance to win.

  1. Not sure why the comments for the gifted child blog are here, but oh well.

I’M A REJECT! I don’t fit in with the modern evangelical scene . . . and I like it that way, too!

  2. I’m trying to reply to the amazon gift card post, but it appears to be posting on the “your kid is gifted” post. I’m not sure how to fix that. I’ve tried everything that I usually do and nothing is seeming to work.
Anyhow, I’m a reject. I’m a reject because I refuse to just go along with the world. I have my standards and I’m sticking to them, no matter how much other people try and convince me that it’s not worth it. I don’t need to stoop to their level. I’m a reject and i’m proud of it.

  3. I’M A REJECT! Why you ask…? Because I love Jesus and because I am living a life of freedom because of His love for me.

  4. I’M A REJECT! (I am not following him but I like his response and it’s also mine) because I follow Him not them.

  5. Hey! Your comments are fixed! Yay. I’m a reject because I seek balance in life only by God’s standards, not by society’s or how culture dictates.

I like the changes you’ve made. Great contest idea!!

  6. I’M A REJECT! I start to perspire when you mention things like RSS feeds and Google + circles. Also, I love that you question everything, even long-held sacred cows and evangelical assumptions, to make sure that we are always striving – not for good as the world sees it, but for God’s best! You rock my friend! Congratulations on all the new site features. Hope God uses them to bless the socks off even more folks through you :).

  7. I’m a reject!

For many reasons, my wife could give a sermon. Here’s a short story; church invites foreign missionaries, has seating upfront reserved for them, Pastor see they came in jeans, Pastor removes front row seating and places them on the balcony, in response I always attend that church in jeans and sit up front.

Had you on Facebook and Google+ before this post

  8. Congratulations on the new design Nicole. I LOVE the wide blog post space. The new side bar too is awesome.

    Keep up the great work!

  9. I am a REject!!! My boyfriend and I won’t have sex…heck…we even decided to stop kissing because of the temptations, despite his frat brother and classmate thinking he is a little off…(and I’m sure many many others!) We’ve grown fond of the HIGH 5.

  10. Nice!! I like the changes (I’m doing some interior decorating behind the scenes on mine too). Very cool…

… moving up in the world like elevators, eh?

  11. Added to my Google Reader feed.

Just started doing Google Reader more regularly. My bff is a die-hard GR user…I see now that she was right all along. Sigh. I need to add Rachel Held Evans as well, I suppose. And Glory to God for All Things. Good stuff(s).

  12. I’m a reject! I reject the biased teaching at my liberal arts college. I reject the misconception that Christians aren’t thinkers. I embrace the stone the builders rejected and make Him my conerstone. I’m a reject!

  13. I’M A REJECT!! Jesus was one and I am trying every day to set aside my “what would make me LIKED” and put on my “what would make me more LIKE Jesus” instead :)

  14. Woo hoo!! I’m a REJECT!!! And that is simply because I have a passion and love for Jesus that sometimes intimidates other people. Also, I love to ponder stuff-and your blog helps in that endeavor!

  15. I’m a reject. I don’t follow many social norms—I haven’t gone to college yet, I moved accross the country, and I’m only 2 1/2 years out of high school—but I know that God wants me where I am.

  16. I’M A REJECT :)

I’m the only Christian in a family full of Atheists. Also most of my friends are Atheists… Most of them think I’m cuh-ray-zee.

  17. I’M A REJECT!
Why? Because I am in mexico doing an intensive 9 month school of biblical sutdies while the rest of my friends went to college to party.

  18. And I added you to my Google+ circle.

    DONE!

    QUESTION:
I am not 18. I am 22. It says, “You must be 18 to win.” I hope I do not have to be 18 EXACTLY, haha.

  19. I’m a Reject! :) heehee…it was kinda therapeutic to get that out!
Already like your FB page. I haven’t wrapped my head around Twitter yet.
New functions on your page are awesome! You are goin’ places my friend…praying for you as you do!

  20. I’m a reject…I can never leave a post on these things because I don’t know how!!! Hope it works this time. So, I guess I am a tech reject big time. Always learning though :)

  21. I’M A REJECT!!! Why? Well, haven’t we all been rejected? I’ve been rejected by friends for sharing the gospel, rejected from schools and jobs I’ve applied to, rejected by women… the list could go on. I suppose the only thing that matters is who accepts us and how. God accepts us because of Jesus.

  22. I’M A REJECT for a few reasons. For starters, I’m a Christian who is also a United Methodist. Thus, evangelicals generally pooh-pooh me immediately. I don’t connect my belief in Christ with a specific political party—instant reject among friends and foes. And I am a SINNER who is always trying to do better. You know, some churches seem to not allow “sinners” to come in the front door… Mine does, thank goodness… but it’s one of those “united methodist” ones!!!

    1. And I think I just did all the other stuff you had listed, except Stumbler. Thanks for the contest, the coverage to the artists involved, and the thought-provoking blogs.

  23. I’m a reject because, I have been divorced, not once but more, I had a baby before I was married, and as a christian I lived with a man who was not my husband. However I believe in GRACE. I know now that God is in love with me. He provided a way for me to be forgiven and to be loved and to be saved. He has taught me how to be pure and He shows me daily how to love and to wait. He is my friend, my husband, my confidant, my savior, my healer, my rightousness, my joy, my peace, my brother, He is everything to me. I live in peace because of Him, I have joy because of Him and I am content because of Him. Don’t get me wrong, there are times in my life that are crazy, but all I have to remember is how greatful I am for what He has done for me and I am in that place of peace. No one can make me believe that I am “less than” because He has told me who I am and I believe Him.

  24. I am a reject because I just found this awesome site today! <3 it. Now to read and catch up on all the hot news..

  25. I am a reject
I have had financial problems multiply during the past two years because my wife was unable to work due to an illness, causing me to make foolish decisions that ended up with my car being repossessed, my wife and I being evicted from our apartment and having to stay with her mother for seven months, and having my pay garnished three or four times because of a grouchy judge.
I am also a reject because my wife was married before she met me (she got a divorce b/c her first husband physically abused her). While this did not directly lead me to becoming a reject, I feel rejected because an associate pastor at a church we attended told me I am disqualified from ministry in a certain conservative denomination because of this–something clearly outside my control. I also cannot attend a seminary of this denomination b/c these are questions they ask me on the application.
But despite this, God still loves me. And seeing the the testimony of fellow Saints like my sister Nicole, I will keep on seeking the ways of my Lord. I have even been tempted to do some things those in my conservative, pious circle of friends would go crazy if I shared publicly like getting a tattoo or two, start chewing or dipping tobacco, or even drinking margaritas, wine coolers, beer, etc, more often than I have been.
