Friday Findings: California or Bust

Happy Friday and what a happy Friday it is, indeed. Why? Well, I’m currently in California with my husband and kiddos. We’ve been here for a few days and have a few more days to go.

So, to that end, I’m taking a mini-break from the blog until Monday. I’ll be back on Tuesday, however, with a brand spankin’ new post, sure to delight.

Here’s a glimpse into my California getaway:

So far, the beach has won the award for best time spent. Today, however, I’m excited to drag the kids to one of my favorite places in L.A.– 3rd St. Promenade. When I lived in L.A. it was my shopping destination of choice and I can’t wait to exhaust my husband and children as I peruse shop after shop…oh, and devour an Unami Burger. Yum.

But, we’ll take the kiddos to the pier, as well, so they can play games, win prizes, and gorge themselves on sugary treats like cotton candy and licorice rope. It’s gonna be a good day….

So what are you doing this weekend? Anything amazing or the same old, same old (which is okay too)? Do you have plans for summer vacation?

Psssttt- Also, did you happen to see yesterday’s GIVEAWAY from Mend Mark, the super cool Christian clothing company? If not, be sure to enter to win.

  1. That is so cool that you’re in California! Woo-woot! My home state! And San Diego, my hometown! You all are not too far from us. Have a great weekend! What a wonderful way to spend Mother’s Day!

This weekend, I’ll be hiking up the highest point in San Diego, Cowles Mountain, with my Mother. It will be her first time but she walks like 5 miles a day, so she should be good! Then we’re gonna have a little lunch and then get her nails done. Tomorrow night, we’re going to go out to dinner, just me and her. That’s Mother’s day for my Mother. Then the next day, my husband and I will be spending Mother’s day with his Mother and the rest of the family. It will be one full, happy weekend!

Summer plans? Well, I hope they include a honeymoon trip to the Caribbean or somewhere like, like my husband and I have talked about. Maybe even Germany, but that is a slim chance and big dream of mine.

    Happy Mother’s Day blessed woman!

  2. That’s cool Nicole, I hope you’re family has a great time! I didn’t know that you used to live in LA. I too live in LA with my wife and daughter. Love this town although things have been going kind of downhill the last few years.

I always wanted to keep an open mind towards Arizona. I hear so many wonderful things about it and I don’t even mind the heat. At least homes in Arizona don’t cost a zillion dollars :-)

    1. Ashleigh,
Just read that post and loved it. A perspective I had never considered but also so honoring to moms, what ever their stage. Congrats to you this Mothers Day as you anticipate who you will be holding this time next year!

  3. I spent Friday taking a new knitting class and letting my oldest practice her babysitting skills. Yesterday, my youngest and I went to a Mother’s Day party hosted by my son’s karate school. Before and after that, we cleaned the house. Today is church and relaxation since last week was a killer week for me. Happy Mother’s Day!
