Favorite (Life) Things

So, in line with my attempts to get more personal, I thought for today’s Favorite Things, I’d share a little bit of what has been going on in my daily life, via pictures.

Here is a photo story of the last couple of weeks…my Favorite (Life) Things for Friday…

I chopped off more of my hair, which may not be obvious to you guys, but it was a  lot. I also lightened my hair by a few shades, which again, big deal right? Thing is, my hubster doesn’t like my hair lighter. What do you think? (If you have an opinion about haircolor and all, if not, I get it)

My Kids had their first run-in with the ice cream truck. The music slowly started drifting down the steert, my husband bolted for the door, ran outside and flagged the truck down just in time to buy them $4 worth of frozen confections. They were delighted and asked for the next 3 days when exactly this magical, musical truck toting ice cream would be making another appearance. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long, hot, expensive, sticky summer.

You may know that I have a puppy named Lolo, who incidentally happens to be the world’s cutest and simultaneously most destructive puppy on the planet.

When she’s not doing this:

She’s doing this…

I have also been covered in vomit and liquid poo all week (sorry no pictures) as my kiddos have been battling a nasty stomach bug. While my 4 year-old was puking and I was wiping her off, she looked up at me and said, “Thank you for taking such good care of me.” Um, hello tears. I was blown away. She is such a sweet girl. Her little bro too…everytime I would clean him off from which ever bodily fluid was covering him, he would quietly say, “Tank you mama, tank you.” Priceless.

Beside them being sick, my kids are also two of the funniest and darn cutest people I know…

And lastly, I’m still pregnant. he he. No room for complaining. I feel pretty good and I am just now in my second trimester, rocking out at 15 weeks this Sunday. It is going fast and I already have a bit of a belly to show for it. I’m just warning you all in advance…I get large. I mean, I pack it on. 60 lbs with both babies. My belly don’t just grow, my whole body grows. Watch out!

So that is what’s been going on with me. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. I’m thankful to God for my family, health,  His opportunities, and this little baby bean.

So, what’s been going on with you? Catch me up…

  1. I loved this post, Nicole! The pics were so FUN! I have not seen your hair since Cat East last fall and I think it looks great! I was trying to pick my fav photo from the bunch, but they were all so heart-warming that I could not! I have been up to pursuing God wholeheartedly and it is a big ticket! I am praying about starting a blog myself and trying to figure out what I am supposed to write my thesis on for my Master’s. I graduated in Dec from Southeastern, but have not started writing yet–Yikes! I will not get my diploma until that paper is complete… I am really starting to feel the pressure!

    1. Thanks Lindsey. I think I’m going to do more photo posts. I liked it too.

It would be so great if you started blogging! Have any idea what exactly you would choose to write about or focus on?

I will be praying for your thesis and for motivation and perseverance. That is a huge undertaking, but how rewarding it will be when it is all said and done.

      1. Thanks so much for your kind words and prayer, Nicole! That is HUGE! I believe that the Greatest Sin of Christians these days is prayerlessness and so I am really trying to be intentional myself about how much time I am spending praying and what about. It really means a lot to me for you to offer prayer. My prob with starting the blog is that I really wanted to blog the journey through my thesis and I since do not have a topic yet, I keep putting it off. Perhaps I should just start blogging about my ideas for a hypothesis and hope for feedback/comments to help guide me?

  2. I loved those photos Nicole, so cute! :)
So, me. My first term (semester) of university this year was great, drawing strength and peace from God. This term’s been a bit harder, and I’m feeling the mountain of work on my shoulders with 6 deadlines in the next 3 weeks! On another note, I’m currently on my way to Bristol (southwest England) for a weekend of rock-climbing with some friends from uni – so thanking God for the opportunity to chill out and have some fun!

    1. Gosh, Rachel, I empathize. I remember when college suddenly shifted from easy-breezy to the real deal.

Although, so much of what you really learn is how to balance things, how to prioritize, how to have fun without blowing off your responsibilities.

Which leads me to say: Have Fun rock-climbing! SO very cool. I’m a bit jealous!

  3. Oh, yay, somebody else who gains 60 pounds during pregnancy! I thought I was the only one. With my first three I gained exactly 60 with each one. Of course, they also turned out to be 9.15 pounds, 10 pounds, and 12 pounds, in that order. With #4 (I’m at 24 weeks right now) I’m thinking I’ve gained probably 25 pounds so far, maybe this one won’t be quite as big?

You look GREAT at 15 weeks! Much smaller than I was.

    1. Wow, another 60 lbs-er! I gained 60 on the dot with both too.

My babies were 7.13 and 8.2, not too small, but definitely not 9, 10, and 12 pounders! You are my hero Karen!

I’m a little scared to gain so much again, but I am trying to just let it go and enjoy my pregnancy.

Here’s to us, maybe flying just under the 60 pound radar! Cheers!

  4. Ok, your dog story made me laugh out loud. That is hilarious… probably not for your little girl though. Speaking of which, you have two adorable little kids and they sound like they have huge hearts… that is awesome. And since I’m new to your blog here, congrats on #3!

    1. The dog is a menace! I feel like she is my third child. I always joke that God makes babies cute so that you’ll want to keep them.

Same with puppies. I cannot resist her cuteness, even when she is off destroying some prized possession.

Thanks for the congrats too. We are excited (and a little scared) for #3, but trusting the Lord in it.
