Tomorrow is my 5 year wedding anniversary with my husband Jonathan. Can I get a “woot, woot!” It seems like only yesterday we were two young kids crazy-in love, ready to spend forever together. Yet, in other ways, it feels like we have been married 50 years already, especially when we act like some old, married couple.
A lot has happened, though, in 5 years. For instance…
We have traveled to England, Hawaii, and some places in between. We have had two children, now aged 2 and 4. Jonathan has started two successful companies and sold one. He also switched jobs about 3 times and positions within those jobs… I don’t know how many times. (People love him and he always gets promoted. Yeah, I’m bragging.)
In 5 years we have trusted the Lord as I have struggled and suffered with chronic pain and illness. We have trusted the Lord as Jonathan left his stable, well-paying job to venture out and work full-time on SoChurch. We have trusted the Lord with our finances when it seemed plain scary. We trusted the Lord when He said He wanted us to start a house church in 2011 (I’ll keep you updated).
We have celebrated 5 birthdays together. 5 Christmases, Easters, New Years. We have watched each other change as God has grown us, challenged us, and convicted us. Jonathan watched my body swell under the weight of pregnancy and even when I felt hideous, he told me I was beautiful. I watched Jonathan finally take the plunge and shave his head, only to reveal a dead-sexy bald man underneath.
Our first 5 years have been wonderful and I wouldn’t change a moment. Some people say the first few years of marriage can be difficult, well ours sure weren’t. Ours were blessed and, to be honest, we got a little bit lucky. So here’s to 5 years of bliss, babies, and baldness. I can’t wait for the next 50 years.
What are some of your favorite things about your spouse or marriage in general? If you are not yet married but want to be, what are you most looking forward to in marriage?
(P.S. This is my first Modern Reject video and I plan on doing lots more. Hope you enjoy!)
Loved your first video! Yesterday was mine and Jared’s third Anniversary and this video spoke beautifully to all the wonderful things I feel towards him (execept the Father parts–no kids yet here)! It sounds like you have an awesome marriage and I found your video quite inspiring! Thanks for posting!
Thanks Lindesy and congratulations on your anniversary as well!
Sounds like you too have a wonderful husband. God is such a great provider and is so faithful to know what we need far beyond what we think!
Thanks for commenting and viewing my first video!
I am overwhelmed, blessed, and more in love than ever. Next to His Son, you, my love, are God’s greatest gift to me. After all these years, I’m still in deep smit.
I’m going to go carve our initials in a tree now. You make me goofy.
Love!
